It was architecturally connected to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestephesustours.com\/blog\/scholastica-baths-in-ephesus.html\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: #0d47a1; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;\">Scholastica Baths<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestephesustours.com\/blog\/public-roman-latrine-toilets-in-ephesus.html\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: #0d47a1; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;\">Roman Latrines<\/a>. However, to mention briefly, in this area directly opposite the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestephesustours.com\/blog\/the-library-of-celsus-in-ephesus.html\" type=\"post\" id=\"510\">Celsus library<\/a>, three private houses were unearthed. The house in the middle of these 3 houses is a two-storey peristyle house that has long been mistakenly interpreted as a pleasure house. The other 2 houses are rich houses of different architecture, and the shops open to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestephesustours.com\/blog\/curetes-street-in-ephesus-ancient-city.html\" type=\"post\" id=\"733\">Curetes Street<\/a>. It is not surprising that what is called the house of pleasure is actually the home of the rich. So there are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestephesustours.com\/blog\/terrace-houses-ephesus.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Terrace Houses<\/a> <strong>1 <\/strong>and <strong>Terrace Houses 2<\/strong>, which are called rich houses, right across the street. Well, weren&#8217;t there houses of pleasure in the ancient Roman culture? The &#8220;tunnel&#8221; people often mistake for a passageway is actually a massive <strong>drainage channel<\/strong> for the city&#8217;s sewage system.
