Ephesus Ancient City

Private Ephesus Tours

Ephesus Ancient City is one of the most important highlights of our private Ephesus tours. Ephesus was the third largest city of the Roman Empire with a population of approximately 250000 in the Roman period. It was also the capital and commercial center of Asia Minor. You will have a chance to see the Library of Celsus (the third biggest library of the ancient world), the Great Theater of Ephesus (the biggest in Anatolia), latrines, the Temple of Hadrian, and more...

Terrace Houses

Ephesus Tour Terrace Houses

Terrace houses, also known as houses of the rich, are located in the ancient city of Ephesus. The 6 luxury villas in the complex give us very important information about family life in the Roman period. The oldest of these houses, which have their own heating systems and are decorated with impressive Roman mosaics and frescoes, date to the 1st century.

The House of the Virgin Mary

The house of the virgin mary tour

During the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, Jesus entrusted his mother to his apostle St. John in his last words, since Jerusalem was not safe for his mother Virgin Mary anymore. John placed Mary on the top of Bülbül Mountain near Ephesus, which he considered as a safe place. It is believed that the Virgin Mary spent her last years in this house and died. The House of the Virgin Mary is now officially registered as a place of pilgrimage, with the visits of Pope Paul VI in 1967, Pope John Paul II in 1979, and Pope Benedict XVI in 2006.

Basilica of St. John

Basilica of St John Ephesus Tours

After the Gospel writer St. John built a house for the Virgin Mary, he continued to live in Ephesus to take care of her and to spread Christianity. After Christianity became the official religion of Rome in the 4th century, the Basilica of St. John was built in the 6th century by Emperor Justinian in the name of St. John. The tomb of St. John is also in the church.

Temple of Artemis

Temple of Artemis Ephesus Tour

The Temple of Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, was built in the 6th century BC. The temple took its final form in the 2nd century. With its size, it was the largest pagan belief center of the period. Although we can only see the basic structure and a single column and a few ruins today, it can be visited even to experience the current atmosphere.

Excellent Tour !

We met at our cruise ship in Kusadasi. Every detail was organized perfectly by Best Ephesus Tours. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable as she guided through Ephesus and she catered the trip to make sure we saw everything we wanted to see. The tour to the House of the Virgin Mary was our top priority. It was awe inspiring. She even took us off the regular tour so we could see Mary’s church. She also took us to a wonderful restaurant where the food was delicious. We saw how rugs are made and even how the silk is spun. There was no pressure to buy. I can’t say enough about our tour guide and Best Ephesus Tours. Don’t waste your money on the cruise ship tours. This company will give you a real value and experience. Thank you for all!!

Best Ephesus Shore Excursions

Nothing better than being driven around in a vip air conditioned car with a wonderful tour guide. I normally do not book excursions that are not with a cruise ship but I must say that our tour guide and the driver of the company were made our FULL DAY in Ephesus perfect. We highly recommend the company “Best Ephesus Tours”. Although they provided us better quality service, we paid much more less than cruise excursions.

Stunning experience!

We booked a day tour with this company and assigned a nice young tour guide Pinar. She came to pick us up from port and explained all details on the way. We did not really know what how amazing sights we are going see untill we met her. She is so knowladgeble, shared facinating history and facts about every place. Artemis Temple and Celsius Library were the most amazing ones. She helped us taking a lot of photos. We purchase nice memories and surveniours from Ephesus. She helped us to experience local foods in a family restaurant. I highly recommend Pinar and Best Ephesus Tours...
