The Hellenistic Fountain in Ephesus

The Hellenistic Fountain in Ephesus

There is a small but exquisite Hellenistic Fountain on the right, at the corner of the Ephesus amphitheater facing the harbour street. It has two columns with ionic capitals and a small pool. Water cascaded into the pool through the marble lion heads. The Hellenistic Fountain in Ephesus was erected in the 2nd century B.C. and it was widened in the 4th century by the addition of two ordinary-looking columns.
