Be firm about going directly to the ancient sites, as some drivers may try to detour you to commission-based shops. Also, keep in mind that very few taxi drivers speak English, so communication can sometimes be challenging.

After you walk off the ship and through the customs terminal, follow the Exit sign on your right and walk through the covered walkway lined with shops. At the end of the walkway, a short 50-meter walk brings you to the Starbucks inside Kusadasi Port; every guest passes it on the way out of the port. Your private guide waits there holding a sign with your name on it. You may see many guides waiting directly outside the customs exit; we avoid that area because it is very crowded, and meeting at the Starbucks is much easier and more relaxed. The most efficient and comfortable way is to book a private Ephesus tour. While cruise lines offer onboard excursions, they are often crowded (40-45 people per bus), expensive, and strictly timed. A private tour gives you the flexibility to customize your itinerary, skip the long ticket lines, and return to the ship on time, guaranteed.
Plan on about 30 minutes after your ship docks: if your ship docks at 08:00, you can comfortably be at the Starbucks by 08:30. On busy and very busy days we recommend coming ashore as early as you can. There is no need to rush, though: your guide waits with your name sign until you arrive.

Ephesus is 18 km (11 miles) from Kusadasi Port, about a 20–25 minute drive by private vehicle.
Yes, Kusadasi and Ephesus are very safe for cruise guests. Thousands of our guests have toured here and none has had a wallet stolen; we have not heard of it happening to other visitors either. We recommend bringing both some cash (Euro or US Dollars) and a credit card. Our tour price and the entrance tickets are paid in cash at the end of the tour, and you may want to shop along the way. As in any busy place, keep your bag closed and your wallet in a front pocket.
No. We do not ask for a pre-payment or card details to secure your booking. You pay the full amount in cash (USD, EUR or Turkish Lira) directly to your guide on the day. If your ship cannot call at Kusadasi because of bad weather or an itinerary change, your booking is canceled and you pay nothing.
